Meera & Rupen’s Stunning Indian Wedding

It was such an amazing experience being a part of Meera and Rupen’s wedding this past Saturday. From our initial meeting, I knew it was going to a spectacular event and it certainly was. The wedding encompassed three days filled with traditions, rituals, vibrant colors and celebration. Meera and Rupen had their traditional Indian wedding ceremony and reception at the Hershey Lodge with almost 400 guests in attendance from all over the country and around the world. The wedding was so rich in color and the evening was filled with sheer joy.

First of all, isn’t Meera just stunning? It took over five hours to have the henna or mehndi done on her hands and feet. The detail and artistry was incredible.

The mandap, the area where the wedding ceremony took place, was set up in one of the large ballrooms and was so beautiful. Red and gold were the featured colors which coordinated with Meera and Rupen’s wedding attire.

How cute is Meera!

After the wedding ceremony, Meera changed into a stunning fuschia saari. The cake was inspired by the design of her saari, including the pleating and design details.

The ceremony area was magically transformed into a beautiful area where the family and bridal party dined on traditional Indian food prepared by her cousins who are chef/owners of the Monsoon Group of restaurants in San Diego, CA in conjunction with the chefs from Passage to India. I have to say, the chocolate filled samosas with fresh whipping cream, prepared by her cousins was incredible. I can’t wait until I go to San Diego to eat at one of their restaurants 🙂

All of the photos above were taken by Merra and Rupen’s wedding photographer Photographick Studios’ from Washington DC. Thank you Sunny for sharing them with me.

The cake, inspired by Meera’s reception saari, also included bright sugar flowers including peony and roses I created. Quilting and stenciling were also incorporated. Some of the tiers were airbrushed gold for a little shimmer.

The cake flavors included chocolate cake with mocha buttercream filling, vanilla cake with raspberry buttercream filling and red velvet with vanilla buttercream filling.

In addition to the cake, I also created an 18 foot sweets table. Lots of candy incorporating the reception colors of fuschia, pink, gold and orange. I found beautiful pink and gold saari fabric which I wrapped around cubes and used as part of the table decor and also used the fabric to create the base for the cake just to tie everything together.

There was a lot on candy!

Mini cupcakes in various flavors were also part on the sweets table.

Some of the candy selection included gold chocolate gems, pink rock candy sticks, pearl jaw breakers, lemon drops, mini Swedish fish and much more.

I really enjoyed seeing all the women in the most beautiful saaris. The DJ and music was amazing and it was so much fun seeing everyone, young and old, dancing and having so much fun…including me!

Congratulations Meera and Rupen. A spectacular wedding for a very special couple.
