Kate and Mathew were married this weekend at the West Shore Country Club. I created a vintage theme sweets table with this cake as the centerpiece. The cake flavor was white cake with fresh lemon curd and vanilla Swiss Meringue buttercream filling. One of my favorite combinations. I’ll post the sweets table later 🙂
So, I’m going to post some tips for my cake friends on my posts. Here’s the first one. I always try to get a shot of my cake before I deliver it. Why? Mainly because I have control over the location, lighting and styling. I knew that the cake would be in a beautiful ballroom against a plain wall with not so great lighting. I actually set a table up outside in a shaded space. Grabbed a box I bought at Michael’s and put the cake stand on it and propped a shutter I bought at an antique shop for the background. I always shoot my cakes with my nifty fifty 50mm 1.8 lens which does the job for me on my Cannon Rebel. Just leave yourself 15-20 minutes to get the shot before you deliver your cake.
