Val & Mak’s Winter Wonderland Wedding

I’ve been saving this post until the weather was just right. Cold..a little snow..now’s the perfect time. Val and Mak were married in January on a snowy day. They had their beautiful wedding at the National Civil War Museum. They are such an amazing couple and were such a joy to work with. Special thanks to Susquehanna Photographic for allowing me to share the photos below.
Val and Mak were guinea pigs for my first gluten free baking experience. I was a bit nervous baking with ingredients like rice flour, potato starch and xanthan gum, but they loved the chocolate cake I made so I was thrilled.
Lori Witmer with Wildflowers by Design created the pretty wintery bridal bouquets.
Catering was provided by Accomac Catering.
This is my favorite photo of Mak performing surgery on the cake.
What a beautiful couple.
Since their wedding Val has started a very successful custom chalkboard business. She creates custom pieces for weddings, businesses and home decor. She even offers her designs in a digital format so you can create your own holiday cards. Here’s just one template. Please stop by her Etsy shop Lily & Val to see her amazing work. I’m so proud of her success.

Happy almost 1 year Mak and Val 🙂
