The Art of Collaboration…Yellow and Grey Chevron Cakes and Sweets Table

It’s Saturday night. I’m all done with my weddings so I’m catching up on a little bit of blogging. This post is about the art and beauty of collaboration. I participated in a bridal show earlier this year and had the honor of working with some of the best wedding professionals in the area. I had a vision of creating a modern, chic and elegant sweets table incorporating a chevron print bringing in the colors of yellow and grey. I teamed up with the floral and event design team at Weddings by JDK to create an amazing display. I shared my ideas with Melissa at Persnickety Invitation Studio and asked her if she could come up with some coordinating stationery. What you see below is the magic that happens when true collaboration takes place.
The cake designs incorporated a trio of cakes, incorporating a chevron print, grey, yellow and a bit of sparkle.
The contrast of the yellow and grey made a beautiful combination…perfect for summer.
Melissa at Persnickety Invitation Studio designed this beautiful suite of stationery. I gave her barely any information except for the colors and that I was using a chevon print. I don’t think the design could have been more perfect.

A menu for each guest is always a nice touch at a wedding and I always suggest taking the time to create custom table numbers to tie in with your wedding theme or colors.
For the candy display, I designed custom candy tags which coordinated with the theme.

I loved the final presentation. The sweets table was displayed on glass which was placed on tall acrylic cubes to created a modern floating effect. I also created two huge banners which hung above the table with giant yellow paper flowers added for a pop of color.
A wedding or event is always the most successful when you select a “team” of professionals to execute your vision. This is a perfect example of the art of collaboration 🙂
