A Couture Wedding Cake

I created this cake for a wedding this Saturday at the National Civil War Museum in Harrisburg. Lindsay brought me a photo of a simple cake with a single magnolia bloom on it. I just love the simplicity and beauty of it. To create a cake with no decorations on it is actually much more difficult than a cake with embellishments on it. The cake has to be perfectly smooth and I was so pleased with the final results of the cake. Each tier was about 6 inches tall to create the tall look.

I created one single large magnolia blossom for the cake. The cake flavors were red velvet with almond buttercream filling and coconut cake with vanilla buttercream filling.
