Sprinkles & Swirls…Harrisburg Cupcake Champion!

Yeah!!! I won the 1st ever Harrisburg Cupcake Cup. I was a little nervous because I was up against 8 other competitors in the professional division and 3 were from one of the big wedding cake shops in the area. I was invited to judge the amateur division which was a lot of fun. There were 100+ people who attended the event at the Midtown Scholar Bookstore in Harrisburg. It’s a beautiful place located near the Broad Street Market. It was amazing to see 180+ cupcakes disappear in a flash. My entry was a dark chocolate cake with chocolate ganache filling and Oreo buttercream frosting with an additional small dollop of vanilla mint buttercream on top. It was a new creation, which was approved by my husband Mark. I made sugar roses and flowers for the top and lined them in a beautiful laser cut liner. I made the cupcake cookies as a donation for the prize baskets. It was awesome and I can’t wait until next year. It was wonderful to be a part of a great event that benefited the PA Food Bank raising over $300 and lots of food. A special thanks to Erica Streisfeld for organizing such a fantastic event and Melanie and Abby for coming. Go cuppies!
